Have any of you ever taken a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas?

What was your experience? Good or Bad, also is there a deck where we can sunbathe topless on the Explorer of the Seas?

Answer :
Hi

I have. Great ship. Tons of things to do. The ship is huge with lots of space. Sorry no topless bathing but you can sunbathe on the top deck. I just recently went on their new ship the Freedom of the seas, it's their largest one yet. Quite amazing. Well have a fun trip!

Answer :
I was on Explorer this summer and it was a blast! There is so much to do on the ship and such great food (check out the Johnny Rocket's on the ship)

There is no topless sunbathing on any cruiseline, I beleive..

Answer :

How does one insure getting a reservation for ice show on Explorer of the Seas.?

I'm going on a cruise in Nov. From all the reviews I've read, everyone agrees that the ice show is wonderful. They all say to make reservations quickly. One person said they hadn't been able to do so. When, where, and how do I make these reservations?

Answer :
I have cruised on several Royal Caribbean ships that have the ice show and I have seen the show twice. The show is free but there are no reserved seats, Its all first come first served. The ship will announce the day and time that tickets will be available and you can go to that place and get the free tickets. However, since its open seating and first come first seated you should get to the show room about 30 minutes before the show starts to get in line and wait for the doors to open. The first time we saw the show we arrived about 10 minutes before show time and ended up sitting on bar stools on one side of the show room. We could see but the seats were not very comfortable.

The show is run twice during a 7 day cruise on different days. You have to decide which day you want tickets for when you pick up your tickets. The ice show is fantastic, great skating and very colorful. Do not miss it.

Answer :
You can make reservations your first day on the ship. Just go to the information desk or the pursers desk. It would be one of the first things I would do when I got on the ship. On a lot of ships you can also call on the phone from your state room, but on my last cruise I could not get through on the phone so I went to the main desk and stood in line. My problem was solved. Good Luck!

Questions concerning Explorer of the seas for young adults?

We are considering a group cruise for a family celebration. I would be taking my 19 and 21 year old children.
1. What is there for them to do onboard?
2. Would the 19 year old be served alcohol?
3. Are there usually long waits for the activities or is the ship generally not too crowded?
4. Would cell phones work to keep in touch with one another?
Thanks for any and all responses.

I had heard that some of these ships have things like mini golf and ice skating. Is this true for the Explorer?
My son was worried that activities like these would be crowded and thus hard to access.

Answer :
hello i just came back from explorer of the seas there is alot to do they have basketball dodgeball tourmnents and soccer there is a card room lots of barsand good shows. all you can eat food. I have no idea about the alcohol i am only 13. no waits at all you can do what ever you want really there is rock climbing i rang the bell at the top. With the cell phones you could use them talking around the ship i would not but if you want to. If you are talking about calling back home don't just don't trust me for 1 call it is like 100-200$ so i would not. hope this helps have a great trip!

Answer :
1) Theres no groups for them to join they at end at 18
2) I belive its just wine and beer 21 year old is whatever he/she wants
3)the activites start on time andExplorer of the seas is one of the largest ships on the ocean so youll have room
4) It your willing to pay long distance and its expensive I called my grandfatehr once its was $27 for a minute call

Have fun on the cruise

Answer :
There are always kids on the ship and the teen programs dont offer any group for kids over 18. Anyow, there are so many activities and you can get off the ship and hang out around the pool and hang out in the night clubs and you can usually meet some pretty cool people and everything.

The 19 year old could drink alcohol if you signed a waiver saying that they could otherwise no. The kids under 21 and minors all get the same colored card and then adults get another color I believe.

The activities arent usually crowded but some of them are and it just really depends but the ship is so big that I doubt they would be.

Cell Phones work in some areas and some cruise lines have contracts with the cruise lines but I would just think that walkie talkies are more more reliable and you would probably have to pay roaming and you cant usually get the best signal so I would just use something else.

Answer :
There is a "teen club" on the ship that they will spend 24 hours a day in - believe me. Adults aren't allowed in it!
No alcohol will be served to them. Sometimes the cell phones work - it depends on where you are. Some ports you just can't get any signals. They do offer walkie talkie type things on the ship though - that you can rent for the week.
I've been on the Explorer, it's a great ship!!

Answer :
first of all ---WOW-- your family is going to LOVE this ship !!! there are 2 side by side pools in the middle of the ship with 4 or 6 hot tubs. another pool up front with 2 big hot tubs . rock climbing , basketball court ,miniature golf , in line skating in the back of the ship and yes there is a skating rink down stairs in the middle of ship . at night go to the front of the ship and see the stars . you can sign up for certain activities and come back latter. yes they will sell your kids alcohol . tell them that the night club is good . i don't know about cell phones on the ship but they do work on the islands . Has anyone ever been on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas?

I am going on June 8th on Royal Caribbean Explorer. Is any one on here going on it that week or have already been on it was is there to do?

Answer :
I went on Exporer of the Seas in March. I went on a 7 day to cozumel, costa maya, belize, and Grand Cayman. The boat was the second largest of Royal Carbbeans boats! Always lots of stuff to do.
You have to do the jungle and cave exploration, with a visit to the blue pool. If you want to actually see belize, go on this one. It was the best part of the cruise.
In Grand cayman, we did the tour to the turtle farm, hell, rum cake center, and the 7 mile beach. Grand Cayman was gorgeous.
Just a tip though, if you want to lay out by the pool during the day.. make sure you get out there early because people would reserve there seats by leaving there stuff on them ALL DAY LONG so that you couldnt find a spot to sit to lay out.

Answer :
i went on it last year on that same time. its REALLY fun!! if youre over 18 then you'd have a blast. if you go through the casino there is a club and its kind of hard to find but if you know where youre going then you'll find it. thats where all the party people go at night when youre on water. make sure you have id! they are VERY strict about it. i was 17 and turning 18 in 2 months and they wouldnt let me in!! The pools are okay, but they get very dirty and PACKED with people very fast...Also, if you want to do fun things off the boat make sure you plan them well in advance. you go to the information cener (i think?) and pick what kind of tour you want etc.. theres so much more i can tell you about, if you have any questions, email me at omfgissjennix3@yahoo.com!!

Rollerskating/ice skating aboard explorer of the seas on royal carribean cruise lines?

I'm going aboard Explorer of the Seas in the summer and I was wandering if you had to bring roller blade or ice skates for the ranks they had or if you can rent them on board?

Answer :
I went on the oasis of the seas last summer, and now they have them there for you to buy or rent. Hope i helped!

Answer :
You can rent them on board.

Is anyone going on Explorer of the Seas?

Is anyone going on Explorer of the Seas leaving from NJ on Jan. 2nd? How old are you?
I am going with friends (we are all college students) and I've been reading reviews that say the average age seems really high. My friends are getting worried that we are going to be the only young people there! Are any other college kids going on other cruises during that time?

Answer :
Me and 3 other people are going on the same cruise and we're 23 years old. Although, I'm a little scared because I didn't realize we needed a passport so now I'm rushing all over trying to get one! :-/ But, I think there will be plenty of young people there! Either way, it's going to be a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once I get that passport in my hands, I'll be the happiest person in the world!!! haha! If not, well I guess that'll suck!

Also, are you and your friends planning any excursions?

P.S. Don't listen to that girl who said passports aren't needed. I talked to Royal Caribbean two days ago and they said no one will be able to board the ship unless they have a passport because we are going to Haiti and that requires a passport. And start Dec. 31st, all passenagers on cruise lines will have to have a passport. Please make sure you and all your friends have one.

Thanks! We all have passports already. We are not planning excursions through the ship because its too expensive, but we are thinking about doing one in Samana. Also, if you call your local passport agency like a week before and tell them you didn't get it, you can go there and pick it up.

Answer :
You can get in touch with other people going on your same cruise. Go to cruisecritic and click on boards. Joining is free. Click on Roll Calls, then find your cruise line (Royal Caribbean), then your ship, then your sail date. We are planning a sail away party on our cruise. We are all going to wear lei's so we know who the cruisecritic people are. Bon Voyage!!!

Answer :
The Explorer is for all ages. RCCL is figured for young to old. Also, passports are not mandatory until June 1st
